Walgreen's can be a challenging store to begin couponing at. But, once you know the ropes, there are tons of great deals to be had! Walgreens does allow you stack a manufacturer coupon with a store coupon and they do accept printable coupons. You can go HERE to see their full coupon policy. Also, Walgreens sales week is from Sunday to Saturday. So here is everything you need to know.
Walgreens Coupons:
Walgreen's store coupons can be found in the weekly ad, monthly coupon booklets (available in-store), coupon pamphlets (also available in-store), or the $0.99 Children's activity booklet. There is always a plethora of available store coupons.
Walgreen's coupons do NOT count toward your item to coupon ratio meaning the register will not beep if you are using more Walgreen's coupons than items.
Also, when you are using both Walgreen's coupons and manufacturer coupons make sure to always hand over the manufacturer coupons first. This will ensure that you save the most money possible.
Register Rewards:
Walgreens catalina system is called Register Rewards (RR). These are manufacturer coupons that print out at the register after you've completed your transaction. To get a RR you have to buy a participating product. Some are advertised in the weekly sales ad and others are not. Just keep your eyes peeled for notice signs on participating products.
Since Register Rewards are manufacturer coupons, the rules of coupon to product ratio apply. In other words, if you are purchasing 2 products, you can only use up to a combination of 2 manufacturer coupons and/or Register Rewards. If you try to use more than 2, the register will beep and it will not accept your coupon. If you are trying to check out and you have more manufacturer coupons and/or RR's than products, look for a small filler item (ex. pencils, pack of gum, small candies) to buy. As mentioned above, Walgreens store coupons do NOT count toward your coupons to item ratio.
Now, if you purchase 2 products that are participating RR items in the same transaction, you will only receive one Register Reward, not 2. If you want to buy multiples of the same qualifying RR deal, you must do them in separate transactions. But, you CAN purchase different qualifying items in the same transaction and still receive the all the due RR's.
Another important note is that Register Rewards do NOT "roll". For example, you received a $3 RR for buying Snuggle Fabric Softner. You can NOT use this same RR to purchase another bottle of Snuggle and expect to receive another $3 RR. But, you can use your $3 RR from the Snuggle to pay for another RR rewards deal. By doing this you can "roll" Register Reward deals and save more money! For example, let's say Tylenol is also a qualifying RR item and it is printing out a $4 RR. You can use your $3RR to pay for your Tylenol and you will still receive a $4 RR back! Then you can "roll" this deal by using the $4 RR to buy another bottle of Snuggle (or anything else you would like)!
If a Register Reward does not print, make sure that you have bought the exact correct products that are required to generate the RR. If you have purchased the correct items, and a RR is not generated, grab your receipt and call the Catalina company directly at 1-888-8coupon. They will review your transaction, and send you your RR if you were suppose to receive one.
Other Tips:
Coupons can be adjusted down - If your coupon value is higher than the price of the item being purchased they will adjust the coupon value down. Ex: If you are buying toothpaste priced at $1.50 and your coupon value is $2, they will adjust the coupon value down to $1.50 and you will not receive any overage.
Coupons can be applied to a FREE coupon item - This means that you CAN use a BOGO coupon on a BOGO sale! It also means that you CAN use 2 coupons on a buy one get one free sale!
Clearance items: Walgreen's always has a ton of clearanced items, so make sure to take your coupon binder with you! When you are shopping you will see 2 kinds of clearance tags - yellow and orange. The yellow tags are items that are clearanced only at that store. The orange tags are items that should be clearanced at every store.
Big order, call ahead!: If you are planning to stock up on a particular item, call ahead and order in advance. Your fellow shoppers will appreciate that you didn't wipe out the shelves completely! Also, Walgreens does issue rain checks that are valid for 30 days.

Great Post! I had the hardest time getting use to shopping at Walgreen's and sometimes they still get me out of a good deal.
